Dear Greenfield Products,
I frequently fish one of Florida’s major inlets, Sebastian Inlet on the East coast. Sebastian is a narrow inlet and the tidal current is extremely strong making it very difficult to anchor up and stay hooked. In the past I’ve tried mushroom anchors, river anchors, and a variety of traditional fluke style anchors. The flukes worked well but at best, it usually took several tries before the anchor took hold. Even then it was quite common to discover the anchor had broke loose and the boat was adrift.
This year, after seeing an Internet ad for a Richter anchor, I purchased one for our annual fall trip to Sebastian. The result was amazing. Never once did the Richter fail to hook up on the first toss. It quickly became as simple as deciding where you wanted to fish, toss out the Richter, turn the motor off and grab your fishing pole with total confidence that there would be no need to worry about drifting.
On one occasion the Richter saved us from serious harm. While drift fishing close to the concrete piers of a major bridge the motor loaded up and stalled. We were rapidly headed in harms way when my fishing partner had the good sense to toss the Richter anchor into the drink. Immediately it grabbed the bottom, stopped our movement and gave us the time needed to restart the motor and get underway.
Sincerely,
Larry Chapman
